Match report
St Albans City are going for a fine record. They took another rise on Saturday, at the expense of Hitchin Town, whom they entertained in a Spartan League game and defeated by no fewer than eight goals(1) to nil.
The City were again without Davis, whilst business prevented Squires from turning out. Nevertheless, the City were all too good for their opponents. Especially good were the City forwards, who never hesitated a second and thereby got their eight goals. The game was not ever interesting, this being partly due to the City rather slackening up in the second half. Hitchin showed some good football, the best of the eleven being Elliott, in goal, Allen at back and the Rev.A.H.Wells in the half line.
The ground was rather greasy when Hitchin, having won the toss, set the City to face the slope.

(1) City also missed two penalties.
-----------------
The directors of West Ham have given notice to the City that they intend approaching Butcher and Webb with a view of getting their services. Whether the two players mentioned are likely to go is another thing.
-----------------
The City F.C. has been put to some disadvantage by the finding of a rule that no football shall be played at Clarence Park on Christmas Day. In consequence, it has been arranged that the match against Boxmoor on Christmas Day morning shall take place at St.Stephen’s.
-----------------
Luton Clarence, whom City meet at 2 o’clock on Boxing Day, is a team that also has a fine record and goal average. They have scored over eighty goals this season and recently beat Bedford Town by 8-0.
