Match report
Vauxhall Motors were well worth their two goal victory. They have not been beaten this season. Their outside-left, Latherton, who is a re-instated professional(1), was their “star” forward and was a thorn in the side of the City defence. Owing to an injury to the shoulder, sustained on the previous Saturday, C.Fearn played the role of spectator.

Reprinted from “The Herts Advertiser & St Albans Times” –29th November 1919.

1 The tie was subsequently awarded to the City after an F.A.hearing found Vauxhall Motors guilty of “playing a re-instated pro or two”.

FOOTBALL NOTES

Whilst we are all pleased to find St Albans City living to fight another day in the Amateur Cup, we would have preferred to see them qualify for the next round by scoring more goals than their opponents, rather than as a result of punishment meted out by the Football Association to Vauxhall Motors.
St Albans City have generally managed to steer clear of protests, but when teams openly violate the rules, whether through sheer ignorance on their part or not, action must be brought upon them if only for “medicinal purposes”.
