Joined St Albans City just prior to the start of the 1999-2000 season, during Bob Dowie’s brief reign as manager, after three seasons with Watford.
A fast striker he scored five times in 33 games for the Hornets and had loan spells with Cambridge United (2 appearances) and Peterborough United (10 app, 5 goals).
His first game for St Albans was a friendly against Rushden & Diamonds during which he scored in a 1-1 draw. Diamonds manager Brian Talbot spent the next day trying to get hold of Andrews but St Albans moved swiftly to place him on a contract.
His early performances for the Saints were impressive, his speed was not something non-league defences were comfortable with and it was his electrifying pace which paved the way for City to record their first win of the season, 4-3 at Chesham United having trailed 3-1 with eight minutes remaining – Andrews scored twice. Joined Aldershot Town the following February, shortly after heading to Nottingham Forest for a trial, having scored 16 goals in 30 games.
Had a season with Chesham United, again under Dowie before joining Oldham Athletic in May 2002. Oldham’s assistant manager at this time was Iain Dowie.
Scored 12 times in 45 games for Oldham before turning out for a succession of clubs; Colchester United (56app/16gls), Crystal Palace (40/1), Coventry City (11/1), Sheffield Wednesday (loan) 9/1), Bristol City (loan) (10/3), Leeds United (loan) (2/0), Bristol Rovers (loan) 1/0) and in 2008-09 Luton Town (10/0).
