Match report
The weather spoilt the game at Clarence Park on Saturday between St Albans City and East Ham. East Ham had done some big things and the City did well in beating them. The ground was against the best football and as the game wore on football became more impossible. At the kick off the City had to shade their eyes against a bright sun, while the second half was played in a drenching downpour of rain and snow. It was almost impossible for the players to keep their feet and it was a wonder that the forwards on both sides shot as well as they did.
The City were without Webb and Davis and in their places were Anderson and J.Richardson. East Ham commenced with only ten men, J.Farley not having arrived in time for the kick off.

Smith, the City’s clever custodian, is sought after by Barnet Alston. The Alston are losing Carter and they sent forms for Smith to sign with the idea that he would take Carter’s place. We are glad to say, however, that Smith will not leave City. He is quite satisfied where he is and the Barnet forms have been returned unsigned.

Webb Richardson had a trial with Tottenham on Thursday and created a favourable impression. He was promised a game with the Spurs’ Reserves at the earliest opportunity.

The English Football Association Benevolent Committee has awarded Mr.T.Noel, the late captain of the City Football Club, the sum of £5. It will be remembered that Noel was on the sick list for six months with a broken leg.
-------------------
The City have arranged to play a Spartan League match at Clarence Park against 3rd Grenadiers. As the International Trial hockey match will take place at the same time, entrance will be by the West gate only. How the difficulty of admission is to be met we cannot say. At one gate threepence will be charged for admission and at the other a shilling

The Mayor of St Albans has consented to be president of the City Football Club.
