Match report
In the semi-final of the Herts Charity Cup the hopes of St Albans City of once more annexing the trophy were dashed to the ground by Waltham Glendale, whom the City met for the first time in their career. Waltham deserve every credit for the manner in which they obtained their victory by two goals to one, but at the same time they must be congratulated on catching their opponents at a weak moment, for the Saints are good enough to beat them nine times out of ten.
An especially pleasing feature of the match was the absence of the unseemly conduct on the part of a certain section of the crowd that was referred to in last week’s sport notes. The behaviour of spectators towards the players was throughout distinctly sportsmanlike and it is sincerely hoped that this disagreeable topic will never have to be discussed again.
The amount collected for the benefit of W.Hughes amounted to £3, of which the City Band were responsible for 25s.
