Match report
This Spartan League game was played at St.Alban’s on Good Friday. Neither side was at full strength, the visitors lacking Comerford and Dainty. For the first thirty five minutes the Albion confined the home side to their own half during which period Webster, after a good run, shot straight into Smith’s hands with a clear goal. Two fine drives by the Albion were cleverly saved by the City goalkeeper, who at this period of the game did able work for his side. Danielli during this half played exceedingly well, keeping the speedy winger, Clark, well in hand.
The first half ended with the score-sheet blank and the second forty-five had well advanced before Coe allowed a very weak goal to be registered by Clark. Thus inspired, the home forwards pressed heavily for some time, scoring two goals despite good work by Coe. The Albion forwards made several raids on the opposing goal, but were given little scope by the home defenders, who did not hesitate to use unscrupulous methods if a player became at all dangerous, Green once being brought down by a tackle round the heels.
St Albans, who are holders of the League championship, thus ran out winners of an interesting game by three goals to nil.
