Match report
On Saturday the team left the strife of electioneering behind them and journeyed into peaceful Buckinghamshire to the home of Chesham United. On arrival at the picturesque little town ground(1), the team was greeted by brave old Sol, who beamed fitfully through the dark storm clouds, whilst the local band lent additional charm by discoursing sweet melodies. Even the green sward seemed decked all in its best, as if for the occasion, for a clothing of herbage disguised the fact that beneath lay treacherous mud, which shortly would become churned up into a quagmire and prove a “slough of despond” to the City eleven.
C.Fearn was indisposed, so W.West deputised in his stead.

1 The Sports Ground, New Road.

This was Chesham United’s first competitive season following the amalgamation of Chesham Town and Chesham Generals in 1917.
