In this match, played at Luton on Monday, the City were poorly represented, not one of the first team being included in the eleven and a defeat of 11-2 was not to be wondered at. By winning this match Luton Clarence(1) are champions of their section of the League(2). The homesters won the toss and kicked down the slope in the first half. Luton were soon attacking, but the City defence prevailed. After about ten minutes play Cuzner got through and scored a beautiful goal for the visitors. The Luton forwards pulled themselves together and after some very pretty play they equalised through their centre-forward. Cuzner scored the second goal for the the City and equalised the scores. Luton put on three more goals before half-time and the interval arrived with the homesters leading 5-2. A strong wind greatly aided the Luton forwards, who were continually pressing all through the second half. Smith had plenty of work to do and it was by no means his fault that he was beaten on six more occasions before the final whistle went.
