In the return County League match with Harpenden on Saturday St Albans City easily held their own and for the third time this season beat their rivals from the “commonland” by a decisive score. The Citizens took the field without two of their brightest “stars” viz, Butcher(assisting West Ham United Reserves)(1), Webb(unwell). The Town were at full strength. The elements were not conducive to good football, a strong wind blowing from goal to goal and rain falling at intervals. Nevertheless, a good crowd witnessed the game. During the match the City players were constantly being reminded of the number of goals required for ‘the century’ and the crowd were somewhat disappointed that the figure was not reached, the Saints leaving off with their total at 99.
Sport Notes On Saturday City have a canter against Sunnyside before their great Charity Cup final on March 8th. All four points will be at stake, owing to the postponement of the previous match, this being thought a better course to take than to arrange a mid-week fixture.
