To say that St Albans City positively toyed with Boxmoor on Saturday is a mild way of expressing the hopeless manner in which the West Herts men were outclassed, the “match,” which took place at Clarence Park for four County League points, resulting in the largest score the City have ever put up. With what may now be styled a first class amateur team pitted against a junior combination, the game was little more than a farce. The City almost walked through the opposition, all the eleven being in splendid form. The team played as selected, “Willie” Hughes introducing a younger brother to the team. Although amongst a strange eleven, the newcomer did extremely well, his pace being a pleasing feature. Moreover he scored three goals, others being registered by Knott(4), W.Hughes(3), Walker and Richardson, all the forwards thus scoring. Boxmoor are to be sympathised with; they were out of their class and although entirely overplayed, they took their beating like sportsman and played as clean a game as one is likely to see.
