The tie in the preliminary round of the English Cup competition in which St Albans City and Luton Celtic were engaged on Saturday, was of the usual cup-tie description, containing many exciting episodes. It is true the Celtic were hardly up to the homesters’ standard, but during the first half they succeeded in fully extending the City and it wanted only a minute to the interval before the latter could claim the advantage of a goal. Afterwards, however, the Saints came into their inheritance. Their forwards proved irresistible and ran away with the game. The home team again had practically their strongest eleven in the field, E.F.Grimsdell(right), the tall Watford back, donning the Club’s colours and T.Knott having recovered from the injury he received the previous week, while Glenister again occupied the outside-right berth. L.G.Hosier preferring the role of spectator. The Celtic were also represented by practically their strongest eleven, their team including C.Thomas, the old Watford Cocoa Works back.
