The Tufnell Park Spartan League team1 entertained St Albans City under pleasant conditions at Hornsey on Saturday, a somewhat unusual game resulting. The ground – the North Middlesex C.C. enclosure – has several peculiarities which gives the home team, with its usage to them, an advantage. The whole pitch slopes in pronounced fashion and this fact can be put down as one of the reasons why the team kicking downhill have matters all their own way, as did City in the first half and Tufnell Park in the second. With a clear five-goal lead, however, the Saints rested too much on the oars after the interval and when the “Tuffs” obtained three fine goals they experienced a shock.

1 Tufnell Park fielded two senior teams at this time, the stronger combination competing in the London League. For their FA Cup tie with the City a week later this latter side took the field with the result that not one of the players involved in this match were selected. |
