A heavy defeat was administered to Hitchin Town on Saturday by St Albans City. Spectators, numbering nearly a thousand, witnessed a fast game and the absolute superiority of the home team, which underwent one or two alterations from the previous Saturday, proved too strong for Hitchin by seven goals to nil. The position at centre-forward, with which previously Hughes had been so familiar, was filled by a new “star” from Redbourn, namely, R.Hillyard, who succeeded in performing the hat-trick, the first three goals being to his credit. L.Hosier took up his old position on the right wing and did credit to his good record and should, after he has eased his limbs, put the finishing touch to the team. Knott being again absent, Davis filled his position and G.Price took up his place on the right. All the players worked hard and to good effect and the score was no exaggeration of the play.
