St Albans City met Hemel Hempstead on the Apsley ground on Thursday evening last for four County League points and a rough and rather unpleasant game resulted in a win for the City by the only goal scored. This, however, was far from representing the superiority of the St Albans team over the Borough. After a fairly even first half, the City were nearly always on the aggressive, the ball rarely crossing the half-way line. It is significant that, during the whole of the game, Smith, the City goalie, did not have a single shot to save. The City had to take the field without Hosier, Webb Richardson and F,Hughes. Hemel Hempstead were expecting to be at full strength, but Hill failed to put in an appearance, so that they had only ten men on the field in the first half.
