The final for the Herts Senior Cup was played at Hatfield on Saturday between Waltham Glendale and St Albans City and after one of the best games ever witnessed in this competition the East Herts Club won by three goals to one. The weather was cold and wet, but about 1,500 people braved the elements in order to witness the tit-bit of the season so far as county competitions are concerned. St Albans had made mincemeat, figuratively speaking, of last year’s winners of the cup (Hitchin) in the semi-final, which they won by 10-1 and they were consequently hot favourites for the final. Naturally being only a few miles away from home, they had by far the greater number of supporters. Excellent ground arrangements had been made by the Hatfield Club, under the direction of Mr.E.J.Scott and the St Albans and District Band entertained the spectators before the start and during the interval. Mr.E.H.Carlile, M.P., who afterwards presented the cup and medals to the winners, was present and watched the whole of the game. The teams were cheered as they entered the arena, St Albans, who are a fine athletic-looking lot of young fellows, coming in for quite an ovation.
