Two Spartan League games at Clarence Park constituted St Albans City’s Easter programme, the first of these being the return fixture with the 3rd Grenadier Guards on Saturday. Although a little too warm from a player’s point of view, the weather was excellent and the game was watched by a considerable crowd. With E.F.Grimsdell touring on the Continent with Ilford, the City took the opportunity to re-introduce into their eleven H.Davis, who was home for Easter. In weather more suitable for cricket than football, neither eleven over-exerted itself, but certainly the City’s lapses were more frequent than the Guards, who were unlucky to lose.
