On Easter Monday afternoon, with a fine win over Sutton Court, St Albans City brought their total of Spartan League points to within two of that possessed by the present leaders: the Saints are indeed making a sturdy effort to pull off the championship. The attractiveness of the fixture and the beautiful weather resulted in the attendance at Clarence Park of a crowd numbering fully 1,500, who received ample “money’s worth”. The game was skilfully fought and although not deserving to win by such a margin as 6-2 the City merited their victory inasmuch as they were acting on the aggressive much more frequently than the visitors. The City took the field without E.F.Grimsdell and A.G.Seabrook, but with Arthur Grimsdell and “Webb” Richardson assisting no appreciable difference was felt. Richardson has been assisting Barnet Alston this season with considerable success and on Monday the play of Hosier and Richardson on the City’s right wing was a feature of the game. Sutton were also represented by a fairly strong eleven.
