“VISITORS GIVE FINE DISPLAY”The conditions did not favour accurate football, a high cross wind that blew diagonally over the ground frequently causing the players to misjudge the bounce of the ball but, taking the game throughout, it was by far the most interesting contest the City have engaged in the season. Whilst not able to play absolutely their best elevens, both clubs had strong sides out. In the absence of Cook and Wiggs, Meagher got his place at left-half, but the City have such a choice of middle-men that the absence of one or two appears to make very little difference. Chesham lacked their usual inside right, Walsingham. The attendance was very small, the number lining the ropes being nothing like so many as would have attended had the match taken place at St Albans. About ten minutes to four the teams lined up.
