The City eleven met at home on Saturday the 2nd Coldstream Guards who have won in the three previous meeting between the teams and a win for the home eleven over the champions of the League is a happy augury as to the remainder of the season. The City made one change from the selected eleven, Wiggs being unable to play owing to the injury. The committee utilised his absence to introduce at inside-right a player who is not unknown at Clarence Park, although it was his first appearance on that pitch, viz., Grundy, of the Porters Park cricket team. He played a very good game and did a lot of useful work. He has plenty of weight and should add to the efficiency of the Saints attacking force. The captain’s tossed up five minutes after the time fixed for the kick-off.
