In defeating their visitors in such an easy fashion the City team took a little retaliation for the defeat which the 2nd Grenadiers inflicted on them in the Amateur Cup the previous week and at the same time brought the first half of their Spartan League programme to a satisfactory conclusion. They have now met every team in the League once and have defeated all with the exception of Tufnell Park, who managed to effect a draw. The City’s return to the routine of League matches after the warfare of the two cup-ties was to the players liking, for this season they can hardly be described as a team for cup-ties and they took Saturday’s game in hand in fine style, the play of one or two men being not far short of brilliant. Their performance was all the more praiseworthy considering that such players as Walker, Edmonds and Palmer were absent. There was a good crowd considering the big attraction at Watford and Luton and on a fairly heavy ground.
