Match report
The visits of Sutton Court to Clarence Park are numbered among the most attractive of the City’s Spartan League fixtures. Playing gentlemanly and skilful football, the Court invariably give the local eleven a good game, but this season the weather has unfortunately prevented the best being seen of them. Their visit early in the season was ruined by the drenching rain which fell throughout the game and on Saturday conditions of vastly different – although almost as bad – a nature spoilt the game to a great degree. The frozen surface of the ground resulted in very cautious play and took most of the interest out of the game, which was witnessed by a very moderate crowd, owing doubtless to the bitterly cold conditions.
The City played as selected, while Sutton Court were also fully represented and on the day’s play there was not much to choose between the teams, which were as follows :-
