The 3rd Grenadiers usually succeed in giving a good show at Clarence Park and Easter Monday’s game proved no exception to the rule. The City of late have not been indulging in goals to the same extent as formerly, but in their latest game, considering the nature of the opposition provided, they may be excused for failing to register more than two. The Guards set up a sound defence and considering the clever line of forwards the City had in the field(the quintette including Webb Richardson, who was home for Easter), they did very well in limiting the goals scored to the number mentioned. Although they had a strong wind to contend against, the players succeeded in giving an excellent afternoon’s entertainment to a large holiday crowd. Some idea of the strength of the wind may be gained from the fact that once when the ball was kicked out of play it gaily bounded across the County Cricket Ground and reached the far side before it was overtaken by the small boys who had given chase – truly a mighty kick !
