St Albans resumed their Spartan League programme on Saturday, when they entertained the 3rd Grenadiers before a moderate crowd. Despite two snowstorms earlier in the afternoon the weather was excellent and the ground in good condition. The home team scoring five times in the first twenty minutes, the result was never in doubt, although the Guards, when they settled down, played very good football at times and hardly deserved to be defeated by six goals to one. The game, however, was never up to standard. The City were without two of the regular forwards, Michell and Hammond, but so well did C.Paul and G.Marsh perform in their places that their absence was not felt.
