“HEAVY SCORING BY THE SAINTS” No fewer than ten goals were scored in the Spartan League fixture at Clarence Park, St Albans City claiming eight and Aylesbury United two. Aylesbury came with an excellent record in the League and a good game was expected. Up to a certain point the match was even and well fought, but in the second half the St Albans forwards, playing with great dash and ability, ran the visiting defenders off their feet and registered goal after goal. The City had a fairly strong team in the field, there being two changes from the previous week, F.Palmer and C.Paul taking the places of A.Wiggs and G.Edmonds respectively.

Aylesbury United’s record at Clarence Park was not impressive. Including this fixture, they had played four Spartan League matches, losing all four, scoring two goals and conceding twenty nine. |
