“A GOOD, BUT DISAPPOINTING, FORWARD LINE”By the narrow margin of one goal, St Albans City were defeated by Sutton Court at Clarence Park on Saturday. The match provided a brighter and more interesting exhibition of football that has been seen on the Park for some time and Sutton Court deserved their victory. There was one change in the City’s selected team, Furness being brought in at inside-left in place of A.Wiggs. On Saturday’s showing there was not much the matter with City’s defence, but as regards the forward line. The final criticism must be that work, although pretty enough, was ineffective. The forward line included, it is true, two reserves, but the forward lines that have appeared in late matches have all suffered from the same complaint – the lack of power to drive their attacks home, to score goals. Sutton Court had a reorganised half-back line. Bailey played at centre-half and Hill took his place at left-half, otherwise the team was as usual.
