“GUARDS BEATEN IN A ROUSING GAME”There was a large crowd present at Clarence Park on Easter Monday afternoon to see St Albans City vanquish their old opponents and rivals, the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards, by 3 goals to 1. The Guards, who had the misfortune to lose their regular centre forward, who broke his leg at Tunbridge Wells the previous Saturday, were nevertheless strongly represented. The team played vigorous football, but was neither as skilful nor as effective as the City.
