It is a tale of mud and gloom, in which the one ray of sunshine was the fact that the City have two useful Spartan League points to show for their afternoon’s work. But it was a particularly unpleasant day – dark, damp and cold – and the three hundred or so faithful City supporters who turned out to watch their team win will surely deserved as much as the visitors from Tufnell Park the surname “Spartans”. The “Spartans” have an excellent record this season and are recognised as one of the most prominent clubs of the Spartan League. The greasy ground hampered the play, the men slipping about in all directions and the contrast between brilliant endeavour and poor accomplishment was often made painfully obvious.
