Good gates were recorded at the Clarence Park ground on Boxing Day and Saturday, somewhere about 1,000 spectators being present at both of the games provided by the St Albans City Club. The good fortune of the club, however, on the first occasion, when they defeated the Polytechnic in a Spartan League encounter, was not repeated on Saturday, when Leavesden Mental Hospital overcame them in the semi-final of the Herts Charity Cup. On both occasions, although the weather overhead was favourable, the ground was by no means in good condition. |
