Born in West Lothian in 1916 Alex played for various clubs before and after World War 2 including Watford and Northampton. Moved into player/ management with Margate. Went on to manage Wembley, Berne (Switzerland), Hayes and Hendon. Also coached the Switzerland, Iceland and Burma national sides.
Became St Albans City manager in August 1961 and spent two seasons at Clarence Park.
Alex passed away on 10th January 2003 aged 86.
